The judicial year opening reception was held on September 15, 2025 with the participation of judges, prosecutors, and lawyers.

Speaking at the reception, President of the Supreme Court, Mr. Bertan Özerdağ, stated: “It is a great source of pride for us that our judiciary is the most trusted institution in the country,” and added: “The Supreme Court has always been one of the most respected institutions within the Turkish Cypriot community."

In his speech, he provided information about the planned activities for the new judicial year, as well as the ongoing challenges. Özerdağ stated that the preliminary injunction procedure will be abolished from the judicial system and, in this context, noted that efforts are ongoing to establish a second Assize Court in Nicosia.

Özerdağ also shared updates about projects and developments related to the electronic filing system, expressing that the aim is to carry out many procedures through the electronic system.

Stating that they will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Supreme Court with an event and a conference this year, President of the Supreme Court Bertan Özerdağ said that they are planning to organise an international conference in November and that the details will be shared with the judicial community in the near future.

Özerdağ stated that at the beginning of this year's judicial year, they observed that all members of the judiciary worked devotedly and with determination, and also expressed his appreciation for them.

Özerdağ concluded by wishing that the new judicial year would bring prosperity to the country and the Turkish Cypriot people.
